After School Program
Centro’s after school program (OST) operates from September through June, Monday through Friday, from 3pm until 6pm, and serves over 50 elementary students annually.
Students receive a daily healthy snack, 15 minutes of play, 45 minutes of small group and/or individualized homework help/tutoring, and 45 minutes of project-based learning (PBL) enrichment.
Students in the after school program utilize photography, poetry, and dance to explore and acknowledge their sense of self, family traditions, Latino cultural heritage, and their position as members of the Fairhill community. Centro students work in groups with teaching artists to learn poetry, drumming, and 7 styles of dance, including Bomba, Plena, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Hip Hop. Volunteer photographers also work with Centro students under the supervision of Lindsay Sparagana, a consistent partner with Centro’s program for the past five years.
